Here’s a little slice of our new album in progress :)
THE NEW LAW – Swayded Out by thenewlaw
THE NEW LAW was featured in Seattles newspaper, The Stranger
The New Law got a great review/promo in Seattle’s super rad newspaper The Stranger:
Seattle’s the New Law—Adam Straney and Justin Neff—produce deftly arranged, orchestrally inclined hiphop that evokes Ninja Tune’s glory years and Portishead’s doomed-romance aura (sans Beth Gibbons’s ruined croons, obviously). Hints of J Dilla’s clipped, staccato beatmaking also color the New Law’s tracks, which often demonstrate a cinematic scope and keenly emotive sense of atmosphere. URB picked them for its Next 1,000 Artists feature, and damn if the L.A.-based mag isn’t on point with that choice.

Headlining show on Thursday Jan 28, 2009 at Neumos, Seattle, WA
This is going to be a fun one. All great Seattle producers playing live PAs. All playing intrumental hiphop/triphop/brokenbeat/beats/bass music to shake the city up. Don’t miss this if you’re in Seattle. And it’s ONLY $5 at Neumos, one of the biggest and best venues in town. The New Law will have an audio/visual set too with a projector displaying radness

THE NEW LAW – Halloween Matinee Bootleg EP (2009 Edition)
I have a Halloween treat for you all. THE NEW LAW just released a Halloween themed free EP. It has 4 songs ranging from trip hop, dubstep, broken beat, and everything in between. 2 new brand new songs are in it, and 2 old unreleased ones from our early days. All tracks are based on movie soundtrack themes, in which 3 of them are horror/thrillers. You can easily guess which ones. It comes complete with super ghetto bootleg artwork made meticulously in Microsoft Paint by a highly sought after graphic artist.

Hey all,
Sorry for the delay on a new mix. There is one coming soon. I’ve been super busy with my album release. It’s been getting great reviews! Check:
“It’s a goddamn masterpiece” – 80bpm.net review
“It’s refreshing to find a talented new ambient electronic artist. This duo is versatile as can be. They’ve been toiling in the Seattle underground for three years, now finally preparing to release their sophomore album. From the surreal saxophone of “Seattle Lights” to the foreboding death march of “Hell’s Gates,” they paint pictures with sound. Ambient is a word that’s thrown around a lot. The New Law has proven that they know the meaning.” – URB Magazine
Anyways, yeah, new mix coming soon
