Immortal Beats – “Sample Your Mind”

I’m really diggin’ this album produced by Immortal Beats as well.   Nice and smooth sample choppage, as it should be.  As said by Immortal Beats himself,

“What do i mean?
Listen to your soul? Enjoy your Life?
Back to the essence? Filter out of what you are thinking?

Well, this Instrumental EP is for everybody who wants to
listen to pure, thoughtful and essential Beats.”

OneLove Beats

I’ve been loving OneLove Beats’ album, “Beats and Dreams”, for a while now. It sounds so good when blasting it in the car on a sunny day in Seattle (which is rare, so I blast it on rainy days too). Everything around you just fits into place with these beats going. I remember seeing an old lady with a cane slowly cross the street at a crosswalk while this album was going, and she stepped along to the beat as if she was in synch with it and my head-nodding. It was perfect. Get it, the price is donation or free. It’s really well produced and sounds along the lines of Gramatik, Madlib, etc… As said by OneLove, “This project is more or less a collection of beats that I’ve been putting together over the past few months. It was primarily inspired by the stack of records that sit next to my computer and my love for hip hop music.” He says it all nonchalantly as if he just whipped it together, but it sounds like a lot of love went into the beats.

Make sure you grab his newer album, “Lovely Sounds”, as well. It’s really jazzy and smooth. Price is only $0.50!

Hippie Sabotage – Vol. 1

I just got back from my gig in Toronto a couple days ago.  It was a bad ass trip, and the gig went off.  Thanks to Johnny AK and the Psychic Vibrations crew for everything.  Go hit up one of their gigs up in Toronto, they do it proper.  I’ll have a recording or set put up soon for the next podcast.

For now I’ll post this album up.  I played a tune in Toronto from it.  It’s $5.  It’s straight up raw, crunked beats on dusty samples.  Slammin’ stuff that’s deep and dirty.  Get it nowwwww.

Bugseed – Bohemian Beatnik LP — get this LP now.

I featured the Japanese producer, Bugseed, in Nod Your Head Podcast #6. I put 2 of his tunes in there. I wanted to put more, but had to fight back. This shit is pure gold. Get it. Seriously good filtered organic beats. A little like Pete Rock, a little DJ Krush, but all Bugseed. He just does it perfectly. He’s got other releases, and has tunes out on some compilations, but get this one first. Comes out to $6.20 US. Worth every penny.

Freddy Finger – Luminous

For dope, smooth organic beats, check out Freddy Finger’s albums.  I like everything he’s put out.  I feel like I’m driving solo on a highway through miles and miles of the countryside with only the beats and my thoughts when I listen to his tunes.  Beautiful stuff.

Evil Needle – Cirrostratus

I just got this album made by the French producer Evil Needle, and I’m really diggin it.  It’s got the Flylo beats/synth sounds, but really flowing.  Definitely head nodding.  Listen to “Summer Blap” or “Hope”, and you’ll see what I mean.  It’s perfect for us summer loving BBQ people.  Get it for cheap:

BTW, I’m going to start featuring more albums that I really like and have played in my previous podcasts because they need more exposure, and why not do it here?  Plus, I hate ridiculous, over-the-top descriptions and vocabulary in music reviews in most magazines and blogs (like wine reviews), so I’m keeping it real simple…
